Flagstaff Aerial Arts (FAA) Facility & Student Policies

  1. No use of any FAA equipment without the supervision and immediate approval of an instructor.  

  2. Students must always have mats underneath themselves to while using any aerial apparatus.  Enveloping mats are required for any inversions (pole & trapeze may be excluded, follow the direction of your instructor).  

  3. Students must warm up and cool down before and after each class.  

  4. Students may not teach other students in class or during open gyms. If you have a question, please ask your instructor. Do not ask other students in open gym to teach you a new move, trick or skill; practice what you know.

  5. Silks students may not wear any jewelry, zippers, snaps, abrasive fabrics, sequins, rhinestones, or other sharp objects on their person while on the silks.  Do not chew gum in class.  Students need to have reasonably trim nails to use the silks.  

  6. Students need to come to class with clean bodies.  If a student comes to class with unreasonably body odor or unclean body parts, the instructor may ask the student to sit out and watch class.  

  7. Students desiring to film or take pictures must have consent of everyone in the room.  Be respectful of your fellow students when thinking about posting to social media.  Ask for consent first!

  8. Students must come on time for their classes or they may be asked to sit and watch class instead of participate.  

  9. If a class is going on in the aerial studio, please keep side conversations to a minimum and at low volume.  Be aware of your impact on other student’s abilities to focus.  You may be asked to leave if you are being disruptive.  

  10. Students may not come to class impaired in any way.  Students under the influence of drugs or alcohol, mental distress, or physical injury may be asked to leave or watch class instead of participate.  

  11. In the event that a student misses a class, we ask that they let their instructor or the FAA Program Director Joan Garcia know in advance.  In the event that a student misses multiple classes, the student may need to withdraw from the session, or schedule private make ups with their instructor.  

  12. Refunds are only offered in the case of extenuating circumstances.  Contact Joan as soon as possible in the event that you need a refund.  Partial reimbursement may be an option.  It is also the right of Flagstaff Aerial Arts to refuse a refund.  

  13. Student of Flagstaff Aerial Arts can become performers for special events:  If you are a level 3 or 4 student, sign up on our performer database, located on our website.  

  14. Students can join up to 1 month into the session, after that, our instruction based classes close, with the exception of Beginner Aerial and other drop in friendly classes.  

  15. In the event that a class is full, drop in’s may not be permitted to attend.  If you are dropping into classes, please let us know in advance.  

  16. Buddy Passes for Platinum and Gold Members: Please notify us in advance if you will be bringing a buddy to class.  Note that Buddy Passes need to be used for an appropriate level of student skill.  A newby can’t come to a level 3 trapeze class, for example.

  17. Class Cancellation: If a class is canceled, FAA instructors will negotiate a makeup class with their students.  If a class is canceled for the semester due to instructor illness or other extenuating circumstances, a refund will be issued for the remainder of the class.  

  18. Participation in the curriculum: Most classes at FAA are progressive curriculum classes, which in the last 7 weeks of the semester, focus on the Student Showcase performance piece.  Even if you are not performing in the Student Showcase, you will still be invited to follow along with the rest of the class and learn the routine.  

  19. Pole Studio Rules: There is no unauthorized use of pole equipment.  Please remove shoes before entering the pole studio to reduce the tracking of mud and debris into the room.  Students desiring to film or take pictures must have consent of everyone in the room.

  20. NO pets at the Circus Arts Studio: The only animals allowed at the Circus Arts Studio are service animals.  

  21. Sexual Misconduct, harassment, violent or intimidating conduct, or any other non-consensual behavior:  The Circus Arts Studio is a safe place and therefore misconduct of any kind is not tolerated.  If you ever feel unsafe at the Circus Arts Studio for any reason, please immediately report to Joan at (970) 560-9485 or email joan@bacchusarts.org.  

  22. We encourage you to bring any nutritional snacks that you may need during class, but please clean up after yourself and do not leave food at the studio.  Please try to avoid eating during class, and always wash hands before getting on apparatuses.  

  23. Visitors: It is up to the discretion of the instructor of visitors are allowed to watch classes at Flagstaff Aerial Arts.  If you would like a visitor to watch class, please ask for permission in advance.

  24. FAA is a safe space for all.  Please treat everyone at our studio with respect.   There is no discrimination on the basis of race, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, disability, mental status, gender identity, political opinion, or body image.
